Artists in Residence
Visiting local artists and photographers, making our walls looks beautiful and giving you the opportunity to browse and buy while you’re here!
A country girl born and raised in Young, with strong ties to the Monteagle and Greenethorpe communities on our doorstep, Chontelle Perrin has been capturing life through the lens for over 15 years. While she’s best known for her heartfelt portrait photography, the special collection on display at the Brewery celebrates another side of her work — the raw beauty of life on the land.
From sweeping farming landscapes to scenes of rural life, livestock and the majestic heritage horses known as Australian Brumbies, each photograph reflects Chontelle’s deep connection to the countryside she calls home. As both a photographer and a farmer, her images offer a genuine and grounded perspective on the world that surrounds her.
Stephanie Corkhill Hyles lives and works on a sheep property near Jugiong, NSW. Her husband and she have four beautiful children near adulthood who have grown up around the comings and goings of Stephs art world. She hoped to teach them to use art as a tool when words failed them.
Steph has been creating since she was small, encouraged by her beautiful parents. Being number 8 of 10 children they were surrounded by the arts and lived on a sheep and wool property at Boorowa, NSW. Her beautiful mother used to cover the hallway walls with brown paper and change it regularly to encourage her children to draw!
Steph went on to study Art Education at COFA UNSW, majoring in painting and etching. She loved this experience and has since absorbed herself in a full art practice, creating most days. She is inspired by her surroundings, experiences and music. She loves colour and the joy that it brings!
She currently works in mixed media with the subjects mainly being landscapes and still life with loads of colour and always drawing from her imagination. She also creates smaller pen and watercolour pieces.
Steph’s hope is that her art helps make people feel good and above all, feel joy. She strongly believes that the world needs more joy at the moment and feels so joyful when she is creating. She works creatively each day and it’s a very big part of her overall wellbeing.
Steph currently hangs at The Longtrack Pantry in Jugiong, Corkhill’s Art of Living in Boorowa (her brother’s shop), Merchant Campbell in Yass and through her own website and socials. This year Steph is also publishing her own book based on jer Love Letters, photographs taken on her adventures, and her artworks.
